With the introduction of the fair value accounting, it becomes essential to evaluate one's Japanese stocks effectively. Nikkei provides a fair value of individual stocks listed on Japanese stock exchanges and Jasdaq Market.
They are based on the 'Pension Fund Association Standards' - guidelines adopted by the Pension Fund Association for measuring fair value of stocks in Japan in order to rate their pension fund assets at a fair value; and on the 'Practical Guidelines for Accounting for Financial Instruments' provided by the Accounting Committee of the Japan Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Japan.
